BRIDGEWATER DISCOVERY
DP2 GEOTECHNICAL SURVEY VESSEL
With more than five decades of operations, Kim Heng has developed a wide range of capabilities in the offshore renewable, marine, as well as oil and gas industries, specialising in engineering, procurement, construction and installation support for these sectors. Its two shipyards in Singapore have a combined waterfront of 205 metres.
Adira Renewables Pte Ltd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Kim Heng together with Soiltech Engineering Co Ltd Korea (“STE”) had signed a vessel framework agreement (“VFA”) with an international major client where Kim Heng and STE will provide offshore geotechnical investigation services to carry out various geotechnical survey projects for offshore windfarm development in Korea.
Through the collaboration, Kim Heng will also benefit by executing geotechnical survey works in the pre-construction phase of larger, more complex offshore windfarm projects tapping on STE know-how in soil investigation works.
STE owns and operates various nearshore survey platforms such as SEP barges, crane barges, pontoons and screw barges as well as onshore drill rigs and fully-accredited onshore soil laboratory.
With twenty-six (26) years of extensive local experience of STE, the windfarm developers will be assisted in permitting and stakeholder management as well.
The fully-dedicated survey vessel, Bridgewater Discovery, will be Korean-flagged and equipped with a new-built drill rig.
The drill rig’s specification includes, but not limited to :
- Automation of the drilling system assuring the efficient and safe operation.
- BOP and gas diverter within a Top-drive system for shallow gas response.
- Specialized testing equipment including Seismic CPT and in-situ thermal conductivity.
- Real-time drilling parameter measurement for precise drilling operation.
- Mode change from downhole mode to seabed mode or vice versa at sea.
- 60MT main crane providing versatility during surveys
